Repairs to begin on historic bandstand
The bandstand was originally opened in 1934. The repairs to the 89 year old bandstand are due to begin the end of summer 2023, weather conditions dependent. The repair works will be completed by an experienced specialist maintenance company and are estimated to take approximately two to three weeks to complete.
The project includes removal of all blown render, undertake concrete and render repairs, treatment to all metal work and reform to match the existing. It will also have waterproofing improvements made to extend the longevity of the repairs. The bandstand will be repainted to match the existing colours once structural repairs are complete.
Did you know, our bandstand is only one of only eight like this in the country, all the rest are at seaside resorts!
In 1882 my great great grandfather John Brinton donated 32 acres of land in the town centre of Kidderminster in Worcestershire as a pleasure ground for the enjoyment of the town's residents.
