Local students dig in to help transform Brinton Park
Students from Sutton Park Primary School in Kidderminster have rolled up their sleeves to play their own part in the transformation of Brinton Park.
Members of the school's council joined forces with contractors McPhillips to plant periwinkles around the new ornamental pool, contributing hands-on to the park's ongoing improvement project.
The overall project continues to progress well. The roof of the new pavilion is now almost complete and the ornamental pool is taking shape, with the new ornamental bridge due to be installed within the coming weeks. Refurbishment of the men's and women's toilets are also ongoing, and a new one-way entry and exit system for the car park is also in progress.
The Brinton Park Splashpad reopens for the summer on Friday, 1 May 2026, and will be open daily from 11am to 5pm.
Councillor Ian Hardiman, Wyre Forest District Council's Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure, Arts and Community Safety, said:
"It's wonderful to see the next generation connecting with Brinton Park and playing their own part in its story. The children from Sutton Park Primary have shown fantastic enthusiasm, and these plants will be a lasting reminder for them of their involvement”.
"The transformation of Brinton Park is really starting to come to life. The new pavilion is rapidly taking shape, and it won't be long before residents and visitors can enjoy a coffee in the new café with views over the new ornamental pool. This is exactly the kind of investment our communities deserve."
Dan Redmond, contracts manager for McPhillips, said:
“It was lovely to welcome the children from Sutton Park Primary School to Brinton Park, and work alongside them planting periwinkle flowers that should start to bloom next month. Their hard work and hands on approach is set to help bring to life Wyre Forest District Council’s colourful and vibrant vision for the park that will benefit them and their families for many years to come.”
The Brinton Park project is due for completion during summer 2026.
Wyre Forest District Council is delivering the improvements with McPhillips (Wellington) Ltd, supported by £2.4 million in funding from The National Lottery Heritage Fund and The National Lottery Community Fund.
